4.NARRATIVE TEXT
Ø Narrative text is kind of text that’s used to entertain and amuse the readers. It is a fiction text.
Ø Narrative text is someone tells to entertain,stimulate emotion or to teach
  The function narrative text is:
·         To entertain
·         To amuse
   The purpose of the text :
             To entertain,create,stimulate emotions,motivate,guide,and teach.
Generic structure (steps) :
  1. Orientation,which sets the scene and introduces the participants (it answers the questions who,when,what n’where).
  2. evaluation,a stepping back to evaluate the plight (the information  about the narrator’s point of view);it is optional.
  3. complication,in which crisis or a problem arises,which usually involves the main characters
  4. Resolution (conclusion),a solution  to the problem (for better or for worse).here main characters find ways to solve the problem.
Language Features:
-          The use of action verbs
-          The use of adverbs, adjective, and noun phrase
-          The use of past forms
-          The use of conjunctions
-          The use of  reported speech
-          The use of passive voice
-          The use simple past tense
Kinds :
       Myth a tradisional story,which may describe the origins of the world.a place and or of  a people.it’s considered true sacred  stories in the remote past
       Legend a true story primaliry about human horoes in the recent past and may feature some religious references
        Folktale is a story which is regarded as fiction.it can be a non sacred fictional.story that occurs “once upon a time” and features human,non-human character
       Folklore a collection of fictional tales about people and or animals it includes myth and tales


 
Example narrative text:
Babu and the Lion
One day, there was a slave whose name was Babu. His master was very, very bad. You know, he often punched Babu and did not offer him food for days. Poor Babu! So he escaped into a forest and slept in a cave.. ORIENTATION
Next morning, he heard a loud roar. In front of him...., at the mouth of the cave..., was a very big lion. You see, Babu was scared to death! Kind of scary, isn’t it? But he could not escape. But the lion didn’t attack him. It was tame. COMPLICATION
There was a large thorn in its right front foot. The lion lookedat Babu. It seemed to say something like:”Please help me. It’s very painful.” Babu walked bravely to the lion and pulled out the thorn. CLIMAX
Babu and the lion turned out to be friends. RESOLUTION

3.INVITATION
     Invitation is a way to invite someone or more to go to a place or to do something.
There are two types of invitation.
FORMAL INVITATION
  Formal invitation is usually originate from Institutes, Companies and a kind of it. Normally formal invitation is written invitation.


  INFORMAL INVITATION
 Informal invitation is personal invitation given to a friend, family, etc. Informal invitation can be written invitation and verbal invitation.


In making a written invitation, you must be careful to include the following information:
1. your full address;
2. the date, time, and place;
3. any necessary explanation regarding the kind of event or programme.

 How to write an invitation
       An invitation can speak volumes about the occasion itself--make sure your invites send the right message before they go in the mail. A professional invite can be more encouraging to the invite, even if they don't want to attend.
  Writing an invitation letter
    An invitation letter serves the purpose of inviting a guest to a party, an event or a celebration while conveying more information than a traditional invitations card.
   It serves two purposes :
                1. to invite the individual to the event
                2. to ensure that the person receiving the letter is going to attend.




Target Language:

       I'd like to invite you to. . .
       How would you like to go  camping with us next month?
       If you are not busy, please try to come to my office

       Thanks! That sounds like fun.
       Sure. Thank you for the invitation.

       Let's meet at. . .
       What date/day is it?
       That would be wonderful
       I’d be glad to


3.Refusing invitations:
       No, thank you.
       I'm sorry, but I have to. . .
       Thanks, but I have another appointment at that time.
       I can't. I'm sorry.
       I’d love to, but I can’t
       I’m really sorry because I can’t come
       Sorry, I’m really busy

   Surpise or Disbelief is used to express something that we cant’t belief or imposible.

  To express Surprise:
·         What a surprise!
·         That’s a surprise!
·         That’s very surprising !
·         Really ?
·         Fancy that !
·         You’re kidding!
  Respons :
·         Yeah!
·         It is!
·         Yup!
·         Positively!
·         It is!
·         I’m serious!

  Dialog expressing surprise :
Sia     : So,who won the singing contest ?
Tia     : Ima did
Sia     : That’s surprising.last week she was far below safitri
Tia     : Yeah…that’s the fact.last week there were just a few people sending texts to support him
            him,but this week there are more people support him

 To express disbelief :
·         I don’t belive it.
·         I can’t believe it.
·         It’s really unbelievable.
·         How could it be.
·         No!I don’t believe it.
·         I find thet hard to believe.

     
 Dialog expressing disbelief :
Nadia     : Look!! Igot A in my test
Diana     : That’s very surprising
Nadia     : I don’t know why
Diana     : Perhaps you did the wrong number

             There some ways to congratulate someone well done

2)      Compliment
Compliment use to “butter up”somebody or flatter in order to increase good will
         You compliment someone,for example :
·         On his/her general appearance
·         It you notice something new about the person’s appearance
·         When you visit someone’s house for the first time
·         When other people do their best
   Always compliment or congratulate your friends when they succed doing something or wear something nice

Gratitude is expression when people give you some help you do something,wish you something and give a compliment,etc.
